MSc Student Position – Evaluation of the effects of CleanWorks Inc. technology on Multi-coloured Asian lady beetle (MALB) in Ontario’s vineyards
Location: Biological Sciences, Brock University and Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute (CCOVI), Ontario
Start date: January 1, 2025
Multi-coloured Asian lady beetle (MALB) is a pest in wine and juice grapes in Ontario as beetles enter vineyards in the autumn and they are harvested along with the grapes. When crushed during grape processing, MALB release methoxypyrazines that taint the juice. The goal of this research is to evaluate an alternative method for mitigating MALB in vineyards using a combination of ultraviolet light-c, ozone and hydrogen peroxide, the patented, innovative technology of CleanWorks Inc., a Niagara region company.

The position will be located at Université Laval in Quebec City (with Valérie Fournier) and at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada research facilities in Vineland, Ontario.
For more information, please contact Justin Renkema [email protected]
