ESO Awards
Each year, during our Annual General Meeting, the Entomological Society of Ontario proudly hands out Awards to those recipients who have demonstrated excellence in the field of entomological study. Travel Awards

President's PrizeEach year, during our Annual General Meeting, the Entomological Society of Ontario proudly presents awards to trainees who have demonstrated excellence in the field of entomology.
Two types of awards are available: Travel Awards President's Prizes for Outstanding Poster and Oral Presentations President’s Prizes are awarded at the Annual General Meeting. The society will award a minimum of 1 President’s Prize for an oral presentation and 1 for a poster presentation. Additional discretionary awards can be given out at the discretion of the ESO Board of Directors and award judges, depending on available funds. Eligibility: Student members of the ESO presenting a poster or a paper at the AGM of the ESO are eligible to apply. Oral presentation and poster judging takes place at the Annual General Meeting by a team of judges assembled by the ESO Awards Committee. Travel AwardsEach year, The Entomological Society of Ontario provides travel awards to assist undergraduate and graduate students with travel expenses incurred to attend the Annual General Meeting. Typically, the ESO awards four travel grants worth $400 each, but fewer or additional awards may be given out at the discretion of the ESO Board of Directors and Awards Committee, depending on available funds.
Eligibility: Student members of the ESO who are presenting a poster or a paper at the AGM of the ESO are eligible to apply. Students may receive only one travel award per degree. Interested students should forward: (1) A title and short abstract for their project; (2) A statement outlining why/how the funds will be used to support their participation in the meeting; (3) A curriculum vitae highlighting past academic achievements, publications, awards and scholarships, and any activities that indicate their dedication to entomology; (4) A letter or email from their supervisor indicating their student status. Please don’t forget to include contact information (phone number, mailing and email address). Deadline for application will be announced before the Annual General Meeting. Is there someone you’d like to recognize for their outstanding contributions to the advancement of entomology?
The ESO can elect up to two new Fellows per year, with voting occurring during the summer alongside board member elections. At least three ESO members must nominate a given person for them to be considered on the ballot.
Please send your nominations, with a brief justification, to the ESO secretary with subject “Fellow nomination”.
